Cult Beauty Haul

Hello you!

I wanted to share this photo quickly to share what I ordered from Cult Beauty and what I was able to get in the Spring Goody Bag! Not sure if it is still available, but the order recently came in so you never know..otherwise a nice watch out for next year!

All the products at the top are what I bought, and everything else was included. Shipping was also included to France, so I reckon a good bargain!

I bought:

  • Pixi: Glow Tonic & Double Cleanse – I feel like if any products I am going to try from Pixi are the Toner that everyone seems to enjoy and is a good price, and the Double Cleanse as Caroline Hirons is well known and respected when it comes to skincare.
  • EH Amazing Face: Another cleanser that has been known to be amazing, so thought why not give it a go. Am also trying to phase out foaming cleansers, and perhaps micellaire waters, in favour for cleansing balms to avoid my skin feeling too stripped that it needs to be
  • DNA Renewal Scar Therapy – something to try on the acne scars
  • Jade Facial Roller – something to get in a good habit, it’s cooling so it’s great for morning/evenings (currently I’m doing it twice a day) and a little massage too

*Finally* bought the Sweet Peach & Modern Renaissance Palettes

Hello you,

I have been awful at keeping up with the posts lately, I’m behind on many Glossybox unboxings, and everything else that I’ve bought and emptied so a million sorry’s for that.

This one’s a quick post to say that I finally cracked and bought these two most talked about palettes of 2016 I feel, through a 25% discount period at Sephora in France, and decided to also buy the MUFE stick foundation as I could  get the powder free. With this purchase at a specific Sephora, I was able to choose my samples, and as a gold member I was also able to choose this Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer which I have loved, ever since getting it in a Glossybox over a year ago. Result!!

Apart from the samples, I’ve used the 3 main items a few times and here’s what I’ll say:

  • Too Faced Sweet Peach: It does smell of peaches, but more in a sickly way than I had imagined, like a peach flavoured sweet perhaps? I was hesitating with this one due to the colour scheme, and wondering if it would go well with my skin tone, but so far I have made the peach colours work, incorporating some of the deeper purple in the outer corners. I think I will reach for this one a lot more now that the sun is coming out
  • ABH Modern Renaissance: I am still nervous about the colours, the warm red/burgandy colours do seem to make me look a bit weird, but I have only reached for this once so it is also too early to tell. I am keeping the box though, as I don’t want the furry packaging to get dirty. Saying this, I do think I might be used to the UD or TF packaging, but this cardboard style packaging sometimes puts me off
  • MUFE Stick foundation: I got this in the (123) shade Y365 as I am still using the liquid versions in (125) Y315 and I feel that although I can use it, I can get a better match. I think this is probably better for me, and I do like the stick foundation. I find it easier to travel with but I do need to try more to see if I prefer the liquid or stick format more.

Mini Sephora Haul

Hey you!

So Sephora had a little sale going on, I guess it was a Cyber Monday of sorts and I decided to get a few products that were 20/30% off and items that I really wanted for a while!

So here is what I got:img_0287

  • Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – Only two shades were discounted, so I got this shade in Natural Beige which is what I think I am.. (fingers crossed!). I wanted to have this for ages when it first released and finally I get the chance! This is 36Eur and I got this for 27Eur
  • Tangle Teezer – The Holy Grail hairbrush… Always wanted to try this. I got a Birchbox version of one and I’ve liked that so I thought that as this is hardly ever on sale, I should benefit. I didn’t care for the design much, so I got this golden one as opposed to the other patterned versions they had selected for the sale. This is 16.50Eur and I got this for 12.30Eur
  • Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer – I can’t believe I haven’t tried this at all, I have the NARS Laguna, the Kevyn Aucoin one (recently), the Becca one, and the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil… I guess I’ve listed the main major ones here right? And now I have this one for the collection. I have been lately just stuck to my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil but I hope to give this one a whirl soon. This is 35.50Eur and I got this for 26.60Eur
  • Clarasonic Deep Pore brush head – Only this one was on sale and since I have stubborn pores that I swear my Clarisonic hasn’t gotten rid of (I think it works a great deal at getting rid of make up but clearing out my pores I don’t think it does that as much), I wanted something a bit stronger and as this was on sale…why not! This is 27Eur and I got this for 20.20Eur

Sephora US Haul

Hey you!

An American friend of mine came to Paris and had told me in advance in case I wanted to order something that he could bring over, and..well I jumped on that chance! Sephora don’t do a ton of brands here that they do over in the US (though it is changing with Fresh, ABH, Huda Beauty, Becca and soon KVD), so I made sure to choose products that I wouldn’t be able to easily get myself.

Additionally, since I spent a fair bit in the summer, I had enough points to claim a Too Faced Melted Matte lipstick, as well as benefit from their promotions and bag myself a goody bag plus three samples.

So here are the products I bought ( I include the 100pt redemption Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick here):

CoverFX – This is SPF30 which is perfect because I sometimes flare up when I wear suncream (but it’s very important, especially if I use resurfacing products..) so I got a sample of this and didn’t seem to react so knew that this would be perfect for over moisturiser and under primer/foundation.

Kevyn Aucoin Medium Sculpting Powder – This seems to be a major staple for many people and I had to try this out. I wanted the light shade but that was sold out so I went for the medium, knowing that I could probably get away with both and that medium was the only one that existed for a long time and if it suited NikkieTutorials for a while then I must be good for sure!

IT cosmetics CC+ cream – I’ve heard about this brand and thought this was the perfect time to try it. I heard more about the bye bye under eye products more actually, but since I was more looking for a foundation type product I went with this one instead.

Too Faced Melted Matte in Sell Out – I saw this in the 100pt offering and had to go for it. This shade looks like a neutral good for work colour, and it is. It kind of reminds me of Pasedena from Ofra, but it is slightly different. I like the wear on it, and it isn’t drying actually for me (the Ofra one can be quite all Matte lipsticks I assume)

Drunk Elephant Let’s B Clear pack – I bought the night serum and although I haven’t tried it out, I remember also looking at the Marula Oil products. Since then I saw the ride or die products mention the day serum as well as the oil and the night serum so I thought why the heck not..

So the goody bag of faves plus the 3 samples are here:

3samples: Estee Edit night mask, Tatcha cleansing oil and Aerin lip salve

From the goody bag, I’m super happy to have the Porefessional and Nars products to try because they are everywhere! And then the rest are good little sized products that I can always have a use for (I mean face masks, SPF, perfume are always good when you’re travelling or something!)img_0289

Oh and before I sign off, I had to share what the Kevyn Aucoin packaging looks like. It caught me by surprise (in a good way) and I had to share it because I wasn’t expecting it. The packaging itself is a nice golden smooth box, it sort of screams luxury, the powder itself comes in a two toned gradient (also screams luxury) and comes in a little cloth pouch.. I mean how cute!!img_0290

Sephora HAUL!

Hello you!

So, during the summer I went to Canada and the US and knew I would be spending ALOT of money to buy a load of items that Sephora doesn’t stock here in France (boo hoo). I did manage to actually get the VIB status (the second level..equivalent to the Sephora Black in France) due to spending so much..oops.

I also have to admit that I did also buy the Drunk Elephant Night Serum at the very last minute so that’s not in the photo, nor the second 100 pt gift I could claim (which is a double of one of the samples here anyway). I signed up to be a rewards member and because it was my birthday month, I got the Fresh gift as well, which was great because I wanted the cleanser again.

I think the Sephora loyalty program is far better than the one here in France, we hardly get good samples and we don’t get things like 100 or 500pt rewards. Plus it works in Canada and the US.

All these products I’ve been keeping on my list, due to various YouTuber’s mentioning them or using them, waiting for my chance to get my hands on these products ( aside from the Boscia brush which was a 100% impulse buy whilst standing in the line to pay). I’ll also be honest and say that apart from the make up products and the cleansing brush, all the rest I won’t be using immediately as I would like to finish of what I’m currently using. I really don’t like (nor have enough space) to have many open products on the go. I just know that I do want these products and they will be used in due time…I just have to be patient first :).

(Anything to the right of the Cover FX, Becca or Philosophy products are the 100 pt samples or the birthday gift).

Have you tried any of these products? What do you think??

Sephora – Kat Von D Haul

Hello you!

As I was recently in Barcelona and had a couple of hours to spare before needing to catch my flight, I got a nagging feeling that I had to go to Sephora. How convenient right? Well I can only try to describe my excitement when I saw Kat Von D being sold!! I thought I’d have to wait until the summer until I could really try this brand (since I’ll be heading over to Canada & the US) but the fact that I could really spend some time looking at the selection and even asking the make up artists there for shade matching etc was a dream come true!

I knew for sure that I wanted the Lock It foundation, Shade and Light contour palette and the Eyeliner in Trooper….faves amongst many beauty reviewers! I also picked up the primer and the concealer too since I thought why the heck not, as well as the powder foundation because I do get super super oily. The key to looking good is having a good base after all right?!

It’s a huge haul, and the reason why I went super crazy (apart from being addicted) was that my face looked so fresh and as if I had slept a zillion years that I needed these products. That’s right, NEEDED!

So just a quick comment on what happened during my first ever ‘experience’ with a make up artist at a store:

My skin was first cleansed with the Clarasonic Mia 2 and some Micellaire gel. To my surprise the Clarasonic was really gentle to my skin. After some serum (Sephora brand) and moisturiser (Guerlain), my skin and pores looked really impressive..even to blind old me.

The primer was then layered on, only a small amount, and then came the concealer (Medium 22) under my eyes and blemishes. Then I got shade matched, after comparing two sides of my face with slightly different shades, we decided on the one that looking better for me (Light 45). Next came a slight dusting of powder and again, decided on the one that went better for my skin tone which was slightly darker than the foundation (Light 49). Next came the Shade and Light contour palette and it looked really good and natural. It’ll be interesting how the other shades will fare on my skin but the good news is that if the contour shades are too dark then it could be perfect for eyes. She then finished the look with a blush and then placed a highlighter on top of the “light” shade. With the eyeliner in Trooper to finish the look I was then in love with the entire look and proceeded to the counter with all these products in tow…

I’ll be doing an unboxing/review at some point after I’ve really managed to wear this for a good while so keep you eyes out for this future post 🙂

Cult Beauty Haul

A fellow beauty and skincare obsessed friend of mine introduced me to Cult Beauty a while ago, and had let me know that they were doing a Spring Goodie Bag promotion. If you spent 100GBP then you’d get a goodie bag with 10 products worth around 150GBP. We decided to split the order and the goodies and I chose the Becca Champagne Pop highlighter and a set of 6 deluxe contour brushes by Morphe.

[I’m adding links so that you can check out the products if you would like to. I’m trying to be less lazy and add a couple of links here and there to make it easier for those that are interested in the product. They aren’t affiliate links or anything, just something to make it easier for you guys]

Here’s the haul (the paid for part):

Morphe 6 Piece Deluxe Contour Set:

I chose this brush set to make up my 50GBP order, and I’ve heard so many good things (and seen on YouTube too) so I decided to go for this set. It’s cheaper than buying the individual brushes too.

The brushes are: Angled Buffer, Rounded Buffer, Pointed Contour Buffer, Mini Angled Buffer, Mini Round Buffer and Mini Pointed Contour

I think I’ll use the smaller brushes for eye work, and the larger brushes for my face. Currently I’m thinking the Pointed Contour Buffer for highlighter/ Contour, the Angled Buffer for Contour/ Blush and the Rounded Buffer for all over finishing powder.

This is the brush set, and you can buy it here:

Becca Highlighter: Champagne Pop

I have tried to get this highlighter so many times. I tried to get it last summer when I was in the US in Florida but it was sold out everywhere. At that time it was meant to be a limited edition, but seeing as it is so popular I believe it is not a permanent colour. This colour is meant to go well with all skin tones, and the internet pretty much blew up over how amazing this is. I’m not really into highlighter’s that much, but I knew I had to try this one for sure.

You can buy this here:

Here is my part of the Spring Goodie Bag Haul:

Aurelia Miracle Cleanser

MV Jojoba Oil

Skin Owl Neck+

Goldfaden Doctor’s Scrub

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist

I chose these products as I am always interested in discovering new products to help calm down my skin, and anything that is a good cleanser, scrub or moisturiser you can sign me up for!

Space NK haul

A couple of weeks ago when I picked up my Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes in London, I also made my way to a Space NK store for the first time. This is what I hauled:

I picked up a full sized version after receiving the sample size from a Glossybox. Having tested it out on the most driest area I could think of, my heel and having it smooth the next day I got a full sized version..naturally. Although it does smell of camphor which does go away once the cream is rubbed in, it is something to be aware of.

Hourglass:  Euphoric Strobe Light

I have the Ambient Lighting Palette and three blushes and knew I couldn’t do any wrong with picking a strobing colour. Admittedly I’m not the best when it comes to highlighting (I’m a WIP!) I asked the sales assistant to help me choose a colour. In the end I went with this one for a more natural highlight that blends in with my skin tone. This is the Euphoric Strobe Light.

Artis Brushes: Oval 8 and Oval 3

I finally got my hands on the Artis brushes (Oval 8 and Oval 3). I asked for a quick demonstration just to be sure before parting with a small fortune.

I chose the Oval 8 because it’s a good sized foundation brush and I feel it’s the most important point for me, to have a good base. It’s slightly too big for any bronzer/ contour/ blush but you could probably get away with it by using the sides/tip of the brush and blending it out.

Looking for an eye brush it was a toss up between the Oval 4 and 3. The Oval 4 seems like a good brush for base eye shadow colour or blending but too big for details. It would make a good under eye brush and detailed contouring though. I chose the Oval 3 since it could do the job of an Oval 4 (in terms of contour and blush) but being smaller means I can work with my hooded eyes a bit more detailed than with the Oval 4.

I decided against the microfibre clothes as the sales assistant said I could use a terry cloth or a towel and brush against that with the foaming cleanser instead. Any £££ saved is a great thing, and I’d rather spend on the actual cleanser than the microfibre cloth given the choice anyway.

Sephora haul..#3

My long awaited third and final Sephora Christmas sales post..

Picked this Urban Decay Vice 4 palette because it was 30% off and I know I love Urban Decay eye-shadows anyway. The packaging is great and caught my eye, but the colours were also good for a pop of colour. The funny thing was that two weeks later this palette was back on full price. Crazy lucky huh?

I also picked up this Estee Lauder lipstick since it was 50% off and I thought I like lipstick anyway so why not try it out.

Sephora haul..#2

Er, so I did a bit more than go back for round two at Sephora..I also went for third and final round so that post will come too at some point (though it wasn’t a haul I guess as it was two products…but I’m not sure what defines a please let me know!). This was a different Sephora (to where I did my first haul) so I was able to find a few products I couldn’t see in the first store that I knew existed on the website.

Here’s my haul:

And the contents neatly laid out:

Dr. Brandt – I got this mainly because I saw the word retinol. I’ve been seeing this in a few YouTube videos/blog posts and wanted to try it out. As well as the brand. Seeing as it was on sale I thought why the heck not right? There’s an overnight resurfacing serum and a BB cream as ‘gifts’ in the box which shall be interesting to try. It was still pricy, but it was also 25% off and to try retinol products I wasn’t going to go all out full priced on something. Hope it works!!

Benefit – I got this foundation in the shade medium which, from the tester, seemed to be a good match. It comes in a compact (with a mirror) and looks and first feels liquid/creamy which then transforms into a powder finish and dries quickly. I have the oxygen wow foundation from benefit which I’m still unsure of (she says half way through the bottle) but as this is on sale I went for a I’ll make it work mindset. Plus I’m sort of expanding my foundation ‘collection’ so why not

Sephora slimming oil – to be honest this was a meh-it-probably-doesn’t-slim-but-its-on-sale-put-it-in-the-basket’ kind of product. Let’s see if it works, but either way I’m sure my skin will seem smooth.

Sephora moisturising SPF – I got this in my first haul, loved it (and still do) so damn right I got more. I got one for my sister who is allergic to the sun too and since this is light and fuss free I thought she’d like it.

Sephora pore refining serum – I got two of these bad boys as they were 70% off, and who doesn’t want to refine their pores. Right?? That’s why I got two..for meeee. No idea where this goes in the routine…first up in selected areas or all over, then another serum over it the moisturiser. I’ll figure something out. Hope it works!

Sephora dark spot minimising serum – another serum to figure out how to put in my daily and/or nightly skin care routine. I have scars from acne (no thanks miss time of the month) so I wanted to give this a go. Again at 70% off, nothing to lose. And the other is for my mum as she has a few scars too. I’m curious to see how this compares to the next product..

Sephora brightening serum – Again I got this in my first haul and loved it so much that I got a second for me.

Sephora toner – the full sized version I wanted in the first place. Wasn’t too fussed, toner is always a good thing to have ..unless you’re allergic, eek which I hope I’m not :s.

So that rounds off haul numero 2, with again a bunch of sephora items and Dr.Brandt and Benefit to mix it up. To be fair, with discounts like this I didn’t really need to go out of the Sephora products much. I guess I’ll have a review at some point on these but what I will say is I already love what I’ve used. Only down side for the pumps is that you can’t take them to travel as there is no lid or anything (unless you keep the boxes).
